Philadelphia Storm Drain Marking Program
There are approximately 72,000 stormwater inlets on streets across the City of Philadelphia. These inlets drain into sewers and the streams and rivers that make up the city's seven watersheds, so it's important to educate residents about keeping them free of litter, pet waste, and harmful chemicals. Storm drain markers serve as helpful reminders, letting people know that our streets and sewers connect to our waterways. In addition to adopting drain through the DRAIN BUDDIES! initiative, residents of Germantown can also mark their drain through the city's Storm Drain Marking program. |
Philadelphia Leaf Recycling Program
The Department of Sanitation collects fallen leaves for composting, which reduces the amount of waste that goes to landfill. The City performs mechanical leaf collection in certain areas with heavy leaf accumulation. Residents can also drop off bagged leaves at sanitation convenience centers or at collection events throughout the city. The department takes collected leaves to the Fairmount Park Organic Recycling Center. |
